Both of the front facing corners were chipped. One was clearly chipped prior to finish, and the other, possibly during shipping. But it is a solid piece. And after moving into our 2nd floor walk-up, it wasn't worth the trouble of returning it for a non-damaged one. Drawers hold less than the drawer fronts lead you to believe, but that could be a bonus if you tend to overstuff yours like I do. Construction is solid, it is a very heavy piece, so have help available if you have stairs!!!

We ordered the Mission Merlot chests to match the Mission Merlot twin beds. We wanted something nice looking for their rooms that would last throughout the kiddie and teen years without having to pay an arm and a leg for it. So far we are very pleased. The furniture has a designer look and is very sturdy. The only thing that concerns me is the drawer hardware. The drawers are supported with rollers on rails on either side, and I'm not sure that they will last for the next 18 years, but we'll see. My boys are pretty strong and I can easily see them pulling too hard and yanking the drawer out of alignment.
